Karanas Among Buffalo State Staff Honored By USC

Clarence Soccer Club Director of Coaching, Tom Karanas, is among the Buffalo State coaching staff who were named Senior College Men’s East Regional Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches. With this award, Buffalo State’s staff will be honored at the College Coaches Awards Reception on January 18, 2018 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Independence Ballroom in conjunction with the 71st annual United Soccer Coaches Convention.

In addition, the Buffalo State coaching staff will be placed on the United Soccer Coaches ballot for National Staff of the Year consideration.

This Fall was a historic season for the Bengals, led by Head Coach Mark Howlett. The Bengals made their first NCAA playoff appearance since 1984, posted a school record 11 shutouts, went undefeated in SUNYAC conference play, had a 15 game unbeaten streak, and were ranked as high as 13th in the nation.

The full Bengals coaching staff includes Head Coach Mark Howlett, and assistant coaches Francesco Cardillo, Tom Karanas, Andy Siviy, Ryan Louis, and Brad Rodda. The Fall 2017 season is the 5th season that Head coach Mark Howlett and assistant coach Tom Karanas have worked together.
